Fantastic site, glad I found it through Twitter. I’m in a competitive NL only league, and after comparing my list to yours a few comments:
-Garrett Jones? He’s eligible for 1B having started 29 games there in ‘09. While I suspect you were planning on adding him to the OF, with 1B eligibility he should be included here.
-Sandoval and Reynolds both started 24 games at 1B in ‘09.
-I would delete Pearce as Clement will have far more PT than him. I’m not sure if Pearce is out of options, yet he looks to be the 5th OF/3 1B on the club right now with the addition of Church.
-Troy Glaus?
-Gaby Sanchez?
-I wouldn’t place Mientkiewicz (minor league deal with Dodgers, Loney will start 160 games short of injury) or Shelton in the top 20. I would rather put Brandon Allen (upside if LaRoche gets moved if the Dbacks blow), Ike Davis. Logan Morrison, Yonder Alonso or even Chris Marrero in the top 20.
Also bro, WordPress 2.9.1 is available.
Let me hit all the players you talked about one by one.
Jones – eligible for RF/LF
Sandoval/Reynolds – I feel that they are better played at 3B than at 1B, both will be high priced but better suited for auction/draft position as third basemen.
Clement – eligible for C
Glaus – eligible for 3B
Sanchez – He is around 21-23 position, they have Glaus in at third and Cantu at first. Which means you’ll trust the Marlins, if Glaus gets hurt, to move Cantu to 3rd and give Sanchez a shot at first. Too many ifs from that franchise.
Loney/Mientkiewicz – Loney is so hot/cold, I could see the Dodgers using a dreaded platoon there.
Shelton – Berkman isn’t getting any younger and the Astros aren’t getting any better, Berkman would be a great DH and is tradeable if the Astros bomb again this year.
Allen/Davis/Morrison/Alonso/Marrero – All great prospects, depending on your roster sizes and keeper rules, thses are great stash plays but only way late in any draft and $1-$2 in an auction.
I have hoped to get my point across as clearly as possible and thanks again for your comments and interest in the site.
What is your twitter name?
@andreweac
Good stuff, just trying to understand your thinking. Cantu is eligible for 3B as well, and probably has more value there.
Glaus is with the Braves.
I presume you’re using a set of dynasty eligibility requirements, as Glaus and Clement didn’t accumulate 20 games played at 3B (Clement never even got a MLB appearance in ‘09 and will be listed as a 1B in ‘10). Most leagues I presume either use 20 games played for eligibility at a position or for their respective Web site to list their primary position. Nevertheless, I totally respect that it’s your Web site! I just think you may want to clarify want eligibility rules you are using when publishing your rankings.
Glad I found your site, look forward to seeing how you develop it.
The Glaus thing, well I did do alot of psychedelics in the late ’90s and early ’00s, so I am excused.
It is my website, but I love the discussion. It is fantasy baseball so most of these predictions and projections could be total crapshoots.
More rankings coming tomorrow, Friday, then Monday. Dollar values after that.
Thanks again for the comments.
